OVERVIEW
The Public Internet Channel is a next-generation web channel devoted to one simple belief: Americans have a right to easily find and access information that will help them live better lives. We believe the right information can help people stay healthy and safe, take control of their finances, ensure their children’s quality of life, and even live in a greener, more sustainable way.
Up to this point, this life-critical information has been spread across the web, unorganized and uncategorized, sometimes hidden deep inside databases, and without context.
The Public Internet Channel will change that.
The PiC will combine self-produced video series, news reports and special features with quality content from the spectrum of government, community and market sources. People will come to the PiC to catch up on a show, or view a mini documentary, and will dive deeper into localized content presented in context with the multimedia presentation.
Everything on the PiC will be relevant, current, accessible and whenever possible, local.
The PiC aims to be America’s leading distribution point for life-critical information and content. In many ways, the PiC is following through on what television has been attempting for years -- providing compelling programming on many levels while adding a launching point into localized, relevant information. The web offers the perfect platform from which to launch this effort.
